Frying pan
19th century
Frying pans come in all shapes and sizes and were usually hand-forged in the 19th century out of iron. The frying pan was set on a rack or directly on the coals inside the hearth within the home. A long handle on the frying pan allowed the cook to heat the food but not get burned by the coals or flames of the fire.
